The English Premier League (EPL) accused Manchester City of numerous violations of the rules of

financial fair play

.

This is reported on the official website of the Premier League.

The investigation of this case lasted four years.

It said there were irregularities in financial reporting and revenue in every season from 2009/10 to 2017/18.

According to The Times, the Manchester club is threatened with severe sanctions.

Josep Guardiola's team can be punished by the removal of points in the championship or even excluded from the Premier League, if all violations of the rules of financial fair play are proven.

"Manchester City" is the current champion of England.

Currently, the Sky Blues occupy the second position in the Premier League standings.

"Towns" are 5 points behind the leader of the championship - "Arsenal" of Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko, who also has a match in reserve.

It will be recalled that in February 2020, UEFA

suspended

Manchester City from European Cups for two seasons for violating financial fair play, and also fined the club 30 million euros.

However, the "citizens" appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which

satisfied their appeal

, canceling the European Cup "ban" and reducing the fine to 10 million euros.
