The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is developing a special quota system that will open the way for athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in

the 2024 Olympic Games

in Paris.

Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Randhir Singh said this in an interview with The Indian Express

.

Such a system will allow athletes from the aggressor countries to qualify for the Olympics through competitions in Asia.

Previously, Russians and Belarusians

were officially invited to take part in the Asian Games

, and the IOC supported this idea.

They can be allowed to perform in a neutral status: without flags, anthems and other national symbols.

"They will not interfere with our medal system or the Asian quota for the Olympic Games. The IOC will develop an Olympic quota policy together with the OCA and international federations. And separate medals will be awarded. Time is running out for Olympic quotas. As the suspension continues, we have invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to participation in our competitions and the Asian Games.

We develop a philosophy where they can compete where we can quantify.

Not in martial arts, for example, not in wrestling.

If our fighter from Asia is knocked out in the first round, then we will lose in the qualification.

But if there is a point system, as in athletics, shooting... In these sports they will be able to compete.

This is all resolved.

The idea is to enable athletes to participate and not miss the Olympic Games in Paris.

Sport is not a place for politics.

Sport is for athletes, it is for love, friendship and brotherhood.

Sports people are one family.

Based on this, we support them," said Singh.

We will remind you that earlier the IOC discussed the issue of the exclusion of Russians and Belarusians from international competitions and announced its

readiness to consider the possibility of the return of athletes from aggressor countries

, but only if they comply with strict conditions - complete neutrality and only those who did not support the war in Ukraine.

After that, the Minister of Youth and Sports, President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadym Gutzait said that our country

can boycott the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris

if athletes from Russia and Belarus are admitted to the competition.

On February 3, the NOC of Ukraine

will consider the issue of a possible boycott of the 2024 Olympic Games

.
