The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine will consider the issue of a possible boycott

of the 2024 Olympic Games

in Paris.

Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and People's Deputy Zhan Beleniuk announced this in his Telegram channel.

The reason was the

likely return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the international arena

until the end of the war that the Russian Federation is waging against Ukraine.

The NOC will discuss the issue of boycotting the Olympics on February 3 during an extraordinary general assembly.

"On February 3, an extraordinary General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine will be held regarding a possible boycott of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 in the event that Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to return to international sports arenas until the end of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Obviously, everything is going to bring them back... so this event will have serious consequences," said Beleniuk, publishing a screenshot of the NOC letter.

It will be recalled that on January 26, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced its readiness to consider the issue of the return of athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions on the condition that they perform in a neutral status: without flags, anthems and other national symbols.

After that, the Minister of Youth and Sports, President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadym Gutzait said that our country

may boycott the 2024 Olympic Games

if Russians and Belarusians are admitted to the competition.

On January 27, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in a video message

criticized the head of the IOC

for his statement about the possibility of returning athletes from the aggressor countries to the international arena.
