The Ukrainian Football Association (

UAF

) appealed to UEFA to ban friendly matches between European and Russian teams.

This is reported by The Athletic.

Despite the football sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the war in Ukraine, clubs from UEFA member countries played control matches with Russian teams at the winter meetings.

In particular, the Serbian "Vojvodina" met with "Akhmat" from Grozny, and the eight-time champion of Serbia "Partizan" played a match against CSKA Moscow.

It should be noted that UEFA recently

extended

the "ban" of Russian teams in tournaments under its auspices and

deprived

the aggressor country of the right to host the 2023 European Super Cup.

At the same time, the restrictions do not apply to friendly matches against clubs and national teams of the Russian Federation.

That is why UAF demands that UEFA also introduce a ban on playing sparring matches with teams from terrorist countries.

"Although the games in Turkey have an unofficial status, we consider this to be a violation of the isolation of Russian sports. No representatives of the Russian Federation have the right to participate in international events, in particular sports. Russia and its ally Belarus should be completely isolated," said Oleksandr Glyvinsky, the press secretary of the Ukrainian national team .

It will be recalled that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)

rejected the appeal of the Russian Federation

to remove Russian clubs and national teams from international competitions.
