Women's Premier League 2023: 

Five teams have been announced for the inaugural edition of the much-awaited Women's Premier League.

In which Adani Sportsline, the sports branch of Adani Group, has also bought a franchise.

The Ahmedabad franchise of Adani Sportsline has been named Gujarat Giants.

Adani Sportsline on Wednesday bought the Gujarat team for Rs 1,289 crore in an auction conducted by the BCCI in Mumbai.

Seven IPL franchises along with several other business entities bid for five Women's Premier League (WPL Teams) teams.

In which Adani Sportsline spent the maximum amount in the auction for the Ahmedabad team.

Other successful bids were made for Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Lucknow.


Pranav Adani, Director, Adani Enterprises, said, “The Indian women's cricket team is doing exceptionally well – and having a cricket league for women is an important step towards creating more opportunities for women through sport Is."

She further added, “Cricket is an important part of the fabric of the country and Adani Sportsline was keen to associate with the sport with the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League.

While I wish the other franchises all the best, I look forward to Gujarat Giants emerging as the top team in this exciting new league.”

Gujarat Giants cricket franchise has joined the family of successful Adani Sportsline teams.

In which Gulf Giants of DP World ILT20 and Gujarat Giants of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) are also included.
