The Mexican "Pumas" announced the early termination of cooperation with defender Dani Alves, who 

the day before on suspicion of sexual harassment.

The decision to terminate the contract with the 39-year-old Brazilian was announced by the club on its website.

The agreement was calculated until June 30, 2023.

"In connection with the information received today about the legal process that Daniel Alves faced and for which he was detained in Spain, we decided to inform: the club has decided to terminate the contract with Alves for valid reasons as of today.

With this decision, the club confirms its commitment not to tolerate the actions of any member of our organization, no matter who they are, that contradict the spirit of the club and its values.

Our club stands for the respect, honesty and dignified behavior of our players both on and off the field, as they are role models in society, in Mexico and elsewhere in the world," the statement said.

On January 20, Alves was taken into custody in Catalonia on suspicion of sexually harassing a young woman in a nightclub.

The alleged crime occurred on the night of December 31, 2022.

According to the girl, the football player put his hand under her underwear without her consent.

In addition, El Periodico reported new details of what Alves is suspected of.

The allegedly 23-year-old victim told the court that Dani forced her to perform oral sex in the toilet, hit her and raped her.

The football player himself rejects all the accusations.

Now the Brazilian is expected to participate in a court hearing, where a judge will decide on his temporary stay while the case is investigated.

He won 46 trophies during his career.

Dani gained world fame as part of Barcelona, ​​for which he played from 2008 to 2016 and from 2021 to 2022.
