Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team

Oleksandr Petrakov

led the national team of Armenia.

This was officially reported by the Football Federation of Armenia.

The corresponding decision was made on January 14 at a meeting of the executive committee of the Armenian Football Federation.

Details of the 65-year-old Ukrainian specialist's contract with the Armenian national team are not disclosed.

Let's add that last year, Petrakov, at the head of the Ukrainian national team, defeated Armenia twice in the UEFA Nations League.

Nominally, the "blue-yellow" won the home match with a score of 3:0, and on the road they won 0:5.

From 2020 to 2022, the Armenian national team was led by Spaniard Joaquin Capparos.

And for the last few months, Roman Berezovskyi temporarily performed the duties of the head coach.

Petrakov officially

left his position as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team

 on January 12.

The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) decided not to continue cooperation with the specialist, whose contract with the national team was calculated until December 31, 2022.

Under the leadership of Petrakov, the "blue and yellow" could not reach the final part of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, losing to Wales in the playoff final.

Also, the national team of Ukraine failed to rise to the elite division of the League of Nations, failing to beat Scotland in the decisive match.

Before the national team, Petrakov trained junior national teams.

In particular, in 2019, he became the world champion with the Ukrainian U-20 national team.
