The Ukrainian Football Association terminated cooperation with the head coach of the Ukrainian national football team Oleksandr Petrakov.

"UAF is sincerely grateful to Oleksandr Petrakov and his coaching staff for their high professionalism and unforgettable victories as the head coach of the national team," the UAF said.

In turn, Petrakov thanked for the opportunity to lead and work with the national team:

"For me, this period of life will forever remain a warm memory in my heart. I want to thank the players of the national team and the coaching and administrative staff for the fact that for a year and a half we were united, united and inspired by the idea of ​​protecting the interests of Ukraine on and off the football field. We strived to achieve the greatest and give Ukraine the joy of victories in the most difficult period of the recent history of the state. We thank our best fans in the world for fervently and sincerely supporting and believing in us! I remain the most ardent fan of the Ukrainian national team! Glory to Ukraine!", he noted.

On August 18, 2021, Petrakov was appointed acting

of the head coach of the national team of Ukraine on November 17, 2021, he was appointed as the coach without the acting prefix.

Under the leadership of Oleksandr Petrakov, the national team of Ukraine played 15 matches (six wins, seven draws, two losses, the difference in goals scored and conceded 23-13).

However, the national team failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and did not enter the elite of the League of Nations.

Before the national team, Petrakov trained junior national teams.

In particular, in 2019, he became the world champion with the Ukrainian U-20 national team.

Earlier it was reported that the national team could be headed by Serhii Rebrov, who currently coaches the Emirati club "Al-Ain".
