midfielder and Olympic champion in the Cameroon national team, Modest Mbami, died at the age of 40.

The Parisian club announced the tragic news on its Twitter page.

According to media reports, Mbami could not survive a heart attack.

Mbami is known for his performances for French PSG and Marseille.

He also managed to play for the Spanish "Almeria", the Chinese "Changchun Yatai", the Saudi "Al-Ittihad", the Colombian "Millionarios" and the French "Le Havre", which became his last club.

Modest ended his career in 2015.

Mbami is the 2000 Olympic champion as part of the Cameroon national team.

He is also familiar to Ukrainian fans, because in 2009, as part of Marseille, he played against Shakhtar in the 1/4 finals of the UEFA Cup.

Then the Donetsk club went further by the sum of two matches and became the triumphant of the European tournament, beating Werder Bremen in the final.
