Andriy Dmitriev, a famous strongman, multiple prize-winner of Ukrainian championships, master of sports, died in the

war

with the Russian occupiers.

The athlete met his death in the battles near 

Bakhmut

,  Donetsk region.

This was reported by the Strongman Federation of Ukraine on Facebook.

"Our strongman family suffered an irreparable loss. Andriy died near Bakhmut. We will remember you, my friend! The flag will be raised in your honor at the competition! We sympathize and mourn together with our loved ones and relatives... We thank you. Rest in peace, angel. Glory Hero of Ukraine," the message reads.

It should be noted that Dmitriev was also the head of the Sumy branch of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine.

In addition to his achievements in strongman, he also repeatedly became the champion in multiple bench presses, the champion in kettlebell sports and the champion of "Sumikhimprom" in tug-of-war.
