Italian long-distance runner Alessandro Braconi was disqualified for 36 years due to

doping

.

This was reported by the Inside the Games portal.

The relevant decision was made by the Athletics Integrity Unit.

The disqualification of the 36-year-old athlete began on July 21, 2022, and will end in March 2058.

Therefore, Braconi should be over 70 years old at the end of his removal.

In addition, doping is a criminal offense in Italy.

Therefore, Braconi also expects an investigation by Italian law enforcement agencies.

Note that Alessandro was already under investigation by the National Anti-Doping Prosecutor's Office of Italy.

Last year he was banned for 12 years for doping.

However, the athlete violated the ban and took part in the competition, after which the National Anti-Doping Prosecutor's Office doubled the term of his suspension - until 2046.
