Former spinner Danish Kaneria believes that Pakistan should re-appoint wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain in Test matches. Sarfaraz, who had done it, was removed from the captaincy in 2019 due to poor form.
However, Kaneria feels he is better suited to lead the team in red-ball cricket than current skipper Babar Azam.
The 42-year-old said that Babar Azam's captaincy is no longer good, especially in the longer format.
Kaneria made these comments on Tuesday (January 3) during a live session on his YouTube channel.
He said, "Sarfraz Ahmed should be made Pakistan's Test captain. He is a better option than Babar Azam. Babar is not capable of leading the team well in red-ball cricket. I can't let so many runs be scored."
Significantly, Sarfaraz Ahmed has returned to the Test team after almost four years.
He replaced Mohammad Rizwan in the ongoing home series against New Zealand.
Although he missed a few chances behind the stumps, he performed brilliantly with the bat in both innings of the First Test and in the first innings of the Second Test.
After scoring 86 and 53 in the first test, scored 78 runs in the first innings of the second test.
While Kaneria wants Sarfaraz to occupy the top position in the Test team, it is worth noting that he has a dismal record as captain in this format.

Danish Kaneria also criticized the performance of the Babar Azam-led team in the ongoing second Test against New Zealand, which is being played at the National Stadium in Karachi.
He highlighted how many Pakistani batsmen failed to score big on a pitch where New Zealand tailenders also scored a lot.
Kaneria criticized the bowlers for letting the Kiwi team score a total of 449 runs in the first innings.
