The Ukrainian Football Association (

UAF

) appealed to UEFA with a demand to explain the situation regarding the possible

holding of the youth tournament

in Volgograd, Russia.

UAF demands specifics from UEFA regarding this issue.

If this tournament is confirmed in Russia, the UAF believes that UEFA and FIFA are violating the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee and the FIFA Council regarding the ban of Russian teams and the ban on holding events in the aggressor country.

"If the stated statement of the RFS is true, this tournament will be the first international event held in an aggressor country since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, condemned by the entire civilized world, and will in fact be a violation of the sanctions justly imposed by FIFA and UEFA on Russia. We sincerely believe that the mentioned the above statement of the RFS is false, and we are asking for confirmation of this," the message reads.

Even in the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, UEFA and FIFA

suspended

the clubs and national teams of the Russian Federation from participating in tournaments under their auspices.

In particular, Russian clubs were kicked out of the European Cups, and the Russian national team was

excluded from the playoffs for the 2022 World Cup

.

Subsequently, UEFA

extended the ban on clubs and national teams of

the Russian Federation.

banning Russians from participating in competitions in the 2022/23 season as well.

At the same time, we note that Russia has not yet been expelled from UEFA and FIFA.
