[Sports Center/Comprehensive Report] After the Dodgers signed former Red Sox slugger JD Martinez with a one-year $10 million contract (approximately NT$309 million) today, they signed Zeng with a minor league contract. He is a top 100 rookie, but outfielder Bradley Zimmer has been trapped by injuries in recent years.

Zimmer has stayed for three teams in the 2022 season. He was first traded to the Blue Jays by the Guardians of his parent team in April. After being DFA by the Blue Jays in August, the Philadelphians chose to take over his contract. After Zimmer gave DFA, the Blue Jays took over his contract again, and finally Zimmer became free in November this year.

Zimmer played a total of 109 games this season and set a new career high, but his hit measurements were only .124/.207/.229, with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.

Compared with the miserable hitting performance, Zimmer's contribution with gloves is much better than that of sticks. He has a total of 1783.1 innings of center field defensive experience in his career, providing +10 outs manufacturing value (Outs Above Average), cumulative DRS ( Defensive Runs Saved, which counts how many more points a player defends or gives up than the average player at that position by defending, is +13.

During his hard work on the farm, Zimmer was once ranked among the top 100 rookies in the Guardian system. In 2016 and 2017, he was selected in the three major rookie rankings "Baseball America", "MLB Pipeline" and "Baseball Prospectus". But after entering the major leagues, Zimmer has been unable to deliver the league's average offensive firepower. His joining is expected to provide the Dodgers with depth in the outfield rather than a starter in the center field.

"MLBTR" believes that the Dodgers' 2023 center field starter in the new season is expected to be T. Thompson (Trayce Thompson). This season, T. Thompson has performed well in 74 games for the Dodgers. Index (OPS+) 145.
