On Sunday, December 18, the national team of Argentina will meet with the national team of France in the decisive match
of the 2022 World Cup
.
FIFA has appointed a team of referees from Poland for the World Cup final.
The main referee of the match will be Szymon Marcyniak.
Assistants are his compatriots Pavel Sokolnytskyi and Tomash Listkevych.
Marciniak will be the first Pole to judge the final of the World Cup as the main referee.
At the World Cup, he worked on two matches: France - Denmark (2:1) in the group stage and Argentina - Australia (2:1) in the round of 16.
Marcyniak commented on his appointment for the match.
"I expect a great game. Argentina and France are two big teams with amazing football players who can do something incredible every second. We refereed both teams, they know us. We will do everything so that not a word is said about the referees.
I dreamed about it as a child.
When I played football, I thought that maybe I would play so well that I would win the World Cup.
Today I am a referee, and for a referee judging the final of the World Cup is the same as lifting the trophy," Marciniak is quoted by

The match between Argentina and France will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail.
The referee's starting whistle will sound at 17:00 Kyiv time.
