Amit Panghal won gold

New Delhi:

Star boxer Amit Panghal on Sunday won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Amit won the gold medal by defeating Kieran MacDonald of England in the final of men's 52 kg weight category.

Panghal had won a silver medal in the previous edition of the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast.

He defeated European Championships silver medalist Kieran MacDonald 5-0 in flyweight.

This is India's 15th gold medal in CWG 2022.

With this, the total number of medals for India has gone up to 43, which includes 15 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals.

At present, India (India at CWG 2022) remains in fifth place in the medal tally.

Earlier in the day, female boxer Neetu Ghanghas won the gold medal in 48 kg.
