English cyclist Joe Truman was knocked unconscious after a horrific 45mph crash as his old friend Jack Carlin won a silver medal for Scotland.

Joe Truman was knocked unconscious during the Commonwealth Games Keirin semi-final.

The 25-year-old suffered severe head trauma and also suffered a broken collarbone in the crash.

The Englishman was followed by paramedics and taken to hospital after regaining consciousness following the horrific collision with another cyclist.

He was thrown from his bike at 45mph or 72km/h when he collided with Australian MatthewGlaetzer, who had fallen in front of him.

It's just the latest setback for the cyclist who has spent the past two years battling back problems that ruled him out of competition at the Tokyo Olympics.
