Russell died at home in front of the woman who had been by his side all his life.

Russell was considered one of the top five basketball players and there were those who considered him the best ever.

There is hardly any recognition that the famous Russell has not received.

The NBA Hall of Famer spent 13 years with the Boston Celtics, leading them to the Finals 12 times and losing just once.

In the season when he lost the final, he was injured in the 2:2 series and could not help the team to win the trophy.

Until the arrival of Michael Jordan, it was Russell who was considered the greatest basketball player of all time.

11 years ago, the then American president, Barack Obama, awarded him the "Order of Freedom", the highest award for residents in the country.
