English club, Manchester United has canceled the big sponsorship agreement of 40 million pounds (47.75 million euros) with the Russian airline Aeroflot.

The Red Devils movement is in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and comes after United flew to Madrid on Tuesday with the other company Titan Airways.

"In light of the events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot's sponsorship rights."

"We share the concerns of our fans around the world and express our condolences to those affected," said a United Nations spokesman.

The team had a long trade deal after first signing with the Russian company in 2013, but has now severed ties.

United's agreement with Aeroflot was renewed in 2017 to the tune of milionë 40 million and would expire in 2023. Aeroflot is the Russian national airline and flies to 146 destinations in 52 countries.

In addition to United stars flying around the world, Aeroflot also offered the club travel and logistical advice, but United is now in the market for a new flight partner, with Qatar Airways under consideration.

United have reportedly earned a whopping plot 100m net from their nine-year deal with Aeroflot.

Interestingly, United's share price fell after the Russian occupation of Ukraine and it was speculated that it may have come precisely because of their connection to the airline Aeroflot.

As of Thursday, the stock price had fallen from $ 14.08 per share to $ 13.10, a drop of seven percent.

United hopes the end of their partnership with Aeroflot will at least stop the stock price from falling.

Other clubs, like Schalke, are also ending their ties with Russian companies and they are no longer sponsored by Gazprom.

Even the Champions League final has been moved to Paris after UEFA confirmed that St. Petersburg will no longer be the host, while Formula 1 canceled the race for the Russian Grand Prix.
