The National Agency for the Quality of Higher Education recognized the presence of academic plagiarism in the doctoral dissertation of former Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to NAZYAVO.

"The National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education at its meeting on February 27, 2024, on the basis of the submission of the Committee on Ethics, unanimously voted for the decision according to which in the dissertation of Doctor of Economic Sciences S. M. Shkarlet "Formation of economic security of enterprises by means of activation of their innovative development" the facts of academic plagiarism have been established.

The national agency decided to apply to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with a request to revoke S.M. Shkarlet's degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences," says the response to Ukrinform's request.

What preceded it

In May of last year, Oleg Smirnov, ex-docent of Sumy State University, stated that 24% of the scientific dissertation of the former minister consists of plagiarism.

Scarlet apparently "borrowed" a part from the work of the Russian scientist Silkina.

Already in December 2023, the Ethics Committee confirmed the presence of academic plagiarism in Scarlett's dissertation.

In February 2024, Serhiy Shkarlet filed a complaint with the Appeals Committee of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education.

The ex-minister complained about the actions of the Ethics Committee.
