The global security system that exists in the world has completely lost its function, as evidenced by modern conflicts, in particular, in Ukraine.

The meetings in Antalya and

Istanbul

at the beginning of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine were a chance to end the war, but they did not receive support.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this at the opening ceremony of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Ukrinform reports.

"The conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Libya and recently in Ukraine have shown us that the current global system has completely lost its function.

In these crises, in which our country is geographically at the center, international institutions and organizations, especially the UN Security Council, have failed to take measures to stop the blood, tears and destruction," Erdogan said.

The President of Turkey noted that Turkey's initiatives to stop Russian aggression at its beginning with the initiatives of holding meetings in Antalya and Istanbul did not receive the necessary support.

"A historic chance that could have saved the lives of tens of thousands of people and prevented suffering was wasted, or rather sabotaged," he said.

According to Erdogan, after Ukraine, the international security order demonstrated its inability and bankruptcy in Gaza.

The President of Turkey also indicated that his country will continue its efforts for the diplomatic settlement of modern conflicts.

"While we give diplomacy a chance and create space.

While we're at it, don't pursue maximalist goals.

As we always say, peace cannot be achieved with clenched fists.

Good will, will and determination are needed," Erdogan said.

According to him, this approach is realistic, as progress in resolving all conflicts can be achieved through diplomacy and dialogue.
