Today, a giant martenitsa decorates one of the favorite places of Bulgarian climbers - the rocks near the Lakatnik station.

Its symbolic embedding on the impressive stone hill was done by the rescuers of the Mountain Rescue Service and was initiated by the local community center, reports Nova.

The Bulgarian spring symbol weighs 70 kg, is 30 m long and 4 m wide.

"Placing the martenitsa is practically a semi-rescue operation," said Lachezar, who led the entire operation.

The organizers said that they are launching the martenitsa for the seventh year in a row and it will remain on the rocks for a whole week.
