The buildings of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers will be lit up in the colors of the Ukrainian flag on the occasion of the second anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine, the press center of the parliament and the government press service announced.

At 19:00, the historic building of the National Assembly will be illuminated with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

"With the lighting of the historic building of the National Assembly, the Bulgarian parliament once again expresses its solidarity with Ukraine and its people, and testifies its support for resolute opposition to Russian aggression and defense of the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine," said the chairman of parliament Rosen Zhelyazkov, quoted by the press center of the institution.

From 18:00 to 24:00, the colors of the Ukrainian flag will illuminate the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the second anniversary of Russia's war against Ukraine and the tenth anniversary of the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

The initiative belongs to the Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev and is supported by the Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov, the government information service indicated.

Two years since the start of Russia's war against Ukraine

The message of this act is for Bulgaria to give courage to the Ukrainians to continue their heroic battle, but also to show that they are not alone in it.

This is also a signal to Bulgarian citizens to support the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of the states and to oppose the aggression of authoritarian regimes against democratic values.

The illumination of landmark buildings in the colors of the Ukrainian flag and the placement of Ukrainian flags is also a sign of unity with our partners in the European Union and with Bulgaria's allies in NATO, the government's press service said.

The Ukrainian flag will also fly on the building of the Capital Municipality, alongside the flags of Bulgaria and the European Union, it became clear after a meeting of Mayor Vasil Terziev with Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk yesterday.
