During the two years of the full-scale invasion, the size of the occupying group deployed on the territory of Ukraine changed. Moreover, a new component appeared, which was not present at the beginning of the aggression (it was represented only partially, by battalions). To date, a group of Russian Guard troops has been deployed in the temporarily occupied territories.

This was announced by the Deputy Chief of the Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi in an interview with "Interfax".

According to Skibitskyi, now the land component, the land part of the group that is on the territory of Ukraine, is about 470 thousand military personnel.

"And this is only the land component, I do not include aviation, we do not count the navy, which is also involved in conducting operations, in carrying out strikes," he clarified.

A new component also appeared, which was not present at the beginning of the aggression (it was represented only partially, by battalions). To date, a group of Russian Guard troops has been deployed in the temporarily occupied territories. These are almost 33,000 military personnel - people who ensure the activities of the occupation authorities, the protection of strategic objects and, if necessary, can perform defense tasks in the temporarily occupied territories.

"What else has appeared is the grouping of the so-called "covering the state border" of the Russian Federation. They are deployed on the territory of three regions of Russia that directly border with us: Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk regions. The Russians are afraid that we will be more active, we will conduct appropriate actions on the territory of the Russian Federation. Perhaps it is necessary to transfer the war to the territory of Russia. There they have concentrated a group of about 30,000 servicemen," added Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy chief of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

He noted that these troops have recently been reinforced by units of the 116th Brigade of the Russian Guard, which were transferred from the temporarily occupied Mariupol to the territory of the Belgorod region.

"As they also admit, in order to ensure the safety and conduct of the election of the ever-living Putin. These are the changes that mainly took place in the number of the land component," Skibitsky explained.

We will remind, according to Vadym Skibitskyi, the Russian occupiers have three strengths that they use. In particular, a powerful mobilization resource and demobilization of fighters. Earlier, the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that the Russians have no shortage of people to participate in the war. This is primarily related to the financial side.
