The modernization of the city of Sofia and its development as a modern European capital was discussed today at a meeting in the presidential institution by the head of state Rumen Radev. Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, major general from the reserve. Former Commander and Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Vasil TerzievVasil Terziev was born on June 9, 1978. He is the candidate for mayor of Sofia, nominated by the parties. The mayor of the capital informed the head of state of the main priorities of his team, among which the leading ambition is to increase transparency in the work of the administration and in the conduct of public procurement, the press secretary of the presidency announced.

During the meeting, the prospects for financial decentralization and real empowerment of the Bulgarian municipalities were discussed, so that the local authorities can implement their policies in the interest of the citizens. Possibilities for improving the urban environment, fighting air pollution, promoting tourism and digitizing a number of services, which would facilitate citizens' communication with municipal authorities, were also among the highlights of the meeting. 

The President vetoed changes to the Criminal Procedure Code

The President highlighted the advantage of the city of Sofia over a number of European capitals to be located in close proximity to a mountain and called for joint efforts by institutions, non-governmental organizations, the sports community and business to find a clear solution for the development of Vitosha Nature Park and to facilitate access next to it for recreation and sports. This would also improve the possibilities of our country to successfully apply for the holding of international competitions in winter sports. 

The development of the public initiative for the construction of a new music hall in Sofia, which would meet the expectations of the cultural community in the capital and in Bulgaria, was also discussed.
