New Delhi:

Rashtriya Lok Dal has not yet made an official announcement about joining the NDA. Party chief Jayant Chaudhary has neither confirmed nor denied the various speculations regarding these news. Currently, reports are that he has left Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

The RLD chief said on Monday that the decision to go with the NDA was taken after discussions with his party MLAs and workers following the announcement of 'Bharat Ratna' award to his grandfather Chaudhary Charan Singh.

When asked if the party MLAs were unhappy with RLD joining the NDA, he said, "If someone is giving this news, I don't think they have talked to the MLAs." I talked to MLAs and workers and then took a decision.

Jayant Choudhary said that there was no prior planning and due to circumstances he was forced to take the decision in a short time.

Although RLD and BJP have not made any formal announcement, both the parties had given enough hints since February 9 about RLD switching from 'India' alliance to NDA. It got a lot of strength when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the award of the country's highest civilian honor 'Bharat Ratna' to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

"We have good intentions for our people and the country," Jayant Chaudhary said at an event organized on the birth anniversary of his father, late Ajit Singh. We are very happy when 'Bharat Ratna' has been given. This is not limited to our family or party. This is the honor of every farmer, youth and poor.

When asked when he would announce his alliance with BJP, he did not give a direct answer. Chaudhary only said, "Today is an important occasion, we are celebrating."

After the news of the award, the RLD president said, "What the previous governments could not do has been accomplished today by PM Modi's vision. I want to express my gratitude to PM Modi's government for encouraging those who are not in the mainstream. "Not a part. It's a big day... and an emotional moment for me."

After Prime Minister Modi announced the award of 'Bharat Ratna' to Chaudhary Charan Singh, Jayant Chaudhary had posted on 'X', "Heart won."

Last week, sources told NDTV that the deal between RLD-BJP is almost done.

Discussion on giving two Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat to RLD.

RLD has good penetration among Jats and farmers in western Uttar Pradesh. There is talk that in alliance with BJP, it will be given two Lok Sabha seats of Baghpat and Bijnor and one Rajya Sabha seat. Besides, seats in the cabinet of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi at the Center were also discussed, but the status of these demands is not clear yet.

It was reported that the western region of UP has 29 out of 80 seats in the state, out of which RLD had reached an agreement with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party on seven seats last month.
