After the shock rise in the price of pellets last year and three times the prices per tonne, many Bulgarian households looked for other ways to heat.

Up to 1000 leva per ton of pellets reached the prices last year. Many households have changed their heating methods, many factories have closed their doors.

"This year, unlike last year, prices are half," Borislav Yurukov told BNT. He explained that there are many bankruptcies in the industry and the main reason is the high price of the raw material.

"Timber is twice as expensive in our country compared to Austria," Yurukov said.
