Voting begins in Egypt on Tuesday in the presidential election, in which incumbent President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is expected to win a third term amid economic turmoil and the war in the Gaza Strip.

A victory in the election would mean a new six-year term for el-Sisi, which he can devote to tackling inflation, foreign currency shortages and efforts to ensure that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas does not spill over into Egypt.
