A youth allegedly tried to extort money from his 19-year-old former woman friend to buy protein powder by threatening to circulate her private pictures on the internet, officials said on Saturday. During interrogation, the accused told police that he had recently started going to gyms and needed money to buy imported protein powder and other supplements, the officials said. According to the police, two persons have been arrested for trying to extort money from the woman and her father.
Police said one of the accused is a juvenile and is a former friend of the victim. According to the police, a separate social media account was created to threaten the woman.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Manoj Kumar Meena said: "A complaint was filed by a 19-year-old woman on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal which was received by the cyber police station. The woman told police that she has been receiving threatening messages from an unknown person on her social media platforms," the officer said.
"The victim told police that the accused was threatening to circulate her private pictures on social media if she did not give her money," Meena said.
