Ukraine and its leadership will personally decide on the further strategy in the confrontation with Russian aggressors and when to negotiate with Moscow.
White House spokesman John Kirby said this, answering the question of whether it is time for Ukraine to think about negotiations with the Russian Federation, given that Congress cannot approve new aid, Ukrinform reports.
"You will be completely unhappy with my answer. President Zelensky must determine how and when this war will end, as well as under what conditions he is ready to negotiate with Putin," Kirby stressed.
He noted that Ukraine faces the threat of a significant presence of the Russian army, which only increases its numbers in the occupied territories, as the Kremlin prepares a new offensive on the Ukraine and recruits people.
"They're probably not going to just sit on the defensive all winter," said a U.S. administration official.
In turn, according to Kirby, Ukrainian side is also not going to just sit on the defensive, but is ready to counterattack, so President Zelensky must determine a further strategy.
"What we've been striving for since the beginning of this conflict is to make sure that he (President Zelensky – ed.) has the tools to do so. And these tools are about to run out of steam," Kirby said.
Earlier, it was reported that Danilov commented on the failed vote of the Senate for aid to Ukraine.
In addition, we previously reported that Ukraine and the United States signed a Memorandum on the joint production of weapons.
