- Russian forces advanced in the industrial zone southeast of Avdiivka and near Verbovoe and intensified assault operations north of Soledar.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Russian bloggers claimed that the occupiers advanced south of the Avdiivka Waste Dump, near the Avdiivka Coke Plant, near Pervomaiske, and east of Avdiivka, although ISW did not find visual confirmation of this.

On December 6, Ukrainian forces counterattacked near Avdiivka and recently confirmed the offensive.
Also, Russian troops control most of Maryinka, but Ukrainian troops control a small part of the settlement.

Russia is attacking Avdiivka from all sides, except for the western one, which, like the city itself, continues to be controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Apparently, the main direction of the aggressor's attack is northwest of the city, where the invaders are trying to cut off supply routes to the city. Russia is also trying to storm the coke plant, which has already become a major industrial "stronghold" for the Defense Forces in the city.

On 28 November, the British Ministry of Defence, citing intelligence data, assessed the advance in the Avdiivka area as one of the biggest "achievements" of Russian forces at the front since the spring. A month earlier, on October 28, British military intelligence stated that Russia had suffered perhaps the highest losses in 2023 during the offensive on Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.

Russian troops became more active near Avdiivka on October 10. The positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the city itself were attacked by a large number of tanks and other armored vehicles with the support of aviation and artillery.
