This was stated by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, Ukrinform reports.

"In all territories liberated from the enemy, torture chambers and places of illegal detention were discovered. These are 104 torture chambers in 8 regions of Ukraine," Kostin said.

According to him, the largest number of torture chambers was found in the Kharkiv region – 25,

Also, 19 torture chambers were discovered on the territory of the Russian Federation.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, almost 90% of prisoners and detainees are subjected to torture or some type of violence – physical or psychological.

Kostin stressed that even the detention of a civilian is already a war crime, and torture, ill-treatment and deprivation of access to justice are other separate war crimes, the perpetrators of which must be punished.

It will be recalled that it is currently known that 3,574 military and 763 civilians are in Russian captivity.

Earlier it was reported that in March 2022, the occupiers in the Chernihiv region tortured and shot three men - one of them survived and got out of the grave.
