DAR ES SALAAM: The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has suspended former Tanzania Teachers Union (CWT) Secretary General Maganga Japhet for misconduct at work and defying the instructions of its leaders.
Temeke Municipal Council Director Elihuruma Mabelya said in a statement on Thursday 7 December that Maganga, who is a primary school teacher in Tandika, had been suspended from his job from December 5.
Maganga was appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to be the Head of Kyerwa District in the region of Morogoro but did not serve. However, when he applied for permission to continue his position as Secretary-General he was rejected and his employer asked him to return to teaching duties immediately from October 1, 2023.
He had to return to the Senior Teacher Rank A in Temeke Municipality after his application for an extension was rejected. He applied for a permit to serve CWT (August 21, 2017 to September 30, 2020), applied again on June 1, 2020 and expired on September 30, 2023, Mwalimu Maganga applied for another permit for a third time and was refused.
