Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday slammed the "brutal bombing" of Gaza, saying as a member of the international community, it is India's duty to stand by the right one and do everything possible to ensure an early ceasefire. In a post on social media platform X, the Congress general secretary said India has always stood with the right and supported the Palestinian people from the very beginning of their long struggle for freedom.

"The ruthless bombardment of Gaza continues with even more brutality than ever before the ceasefire. There is a shortage of food supply, medical facilities have been destroyed and basic facilities have also been shut down. He claimed that 10,000 innocent civilians, including nearly 60,16 children, more than 000 journalists and hundreds of medical staff have been killed. "They have dreams and hopes just like we do. They are being brutally killed in front of our eyes. Where is our humanity?" the Congress leader said India has always stood with the right on the international stage.

"We fought for sanctions against the apartheid government of South Africa. We have supported our brothers and sisters in Palestine from the very beginning of their long struggle for freedom, and now we are not doing anything about the genocide that is taking place to wipe them out of the face of the earth?"

Priyanka said that as a member of the international community, it is India's duty to stand by what is right. "We should do everything possible to ensure a ceasefire at the earliest," he said.

Media reports quoted the health ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza as saying that the death toll in the region had passed 16,200 with more than 42,000 injured. Israel has launched a large-scale military operation after the October 1 attack by Hamas militants.
