The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is looking for an intelligence officer. Such a vacancy appeared on the Internet. The candidate is promised qualified training at the training center and a salary of 70 to 140 thousand hryvnias.

The vacancy is posted on the website of the organization Lobby X. This is an employment company and a non-governmental organization that recruits motivated people to the defense forces. The TSN.ua website asked the Main Intelligence Directorate whether there are many people who want to become an intelligence officer, and what are the criteria for selecting candidates.

Who Can Become a Scout

As noted on the website, the vacancy involves service in one of the active operations units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine — Kraken, Artan, or the Revenge Tactical Group.

Among the duties: the implementation of intelligence activities and the conduct of special actions. There are a few more requirements for the candidate. Combat experience is not required, but it will be an advantage. The future intelligence officer must have the citizenship of Ukraine, the motivation to destroy the enemy and be fit for service due to his health and moral qualities.

Also among the requirements:

The candidate will be officially mobilized before the end of martial law or will be offered to sign a contract. Active servicemen can also apply for a vacancy — there is a possibility of transfer to the Main Intelligence Directorate. The financial support of the intelligence officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate ranges from 70 to 140 thousand hryvnias plus bonuses. The amount depends on the completion of the tasks.

In addition to qualified training at the training center, the candidate is promised full financial support, sanatorium treatment of the serviceman and his family members, free medical care, insurance and other social guarantees.

To apply for a vacancy, you need to send your CV or contact details and a description of professional experience by e-mail. For active military personnel, additionally indicate the rank and details of service experience.

Are there many people who want to

Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, said in a comment to the TSN.ua website that the number of personnel that is planned to be involved in the performance of military intelligence tasks is not commented on — this is information with limited access. However, according to him, the number of people wishing to serve in the units remains high and much higher than it was before the full-scale invasion.

"The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine puts forward high requirements for candidates for service in the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, according to which the best specialists are selected who will work most effectively. Both in terms of control and lack of control. Because a huge number of tasks see high autonomy in the course of their implementation," Andriy Yusov told TSN.ua.

The leadership and command of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine expects their employees to be fully committed and ready for the most complex challenges and the most non-standard tasks and operations.

"Initiative, responsibility and focus on results are extremely important factors here. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine values each employee and invests significant resources in development and training, motivation for effective work. We are also open to everyone's opinion to further improve work and interaction," says Andriy Yusov.

The selection process is complex and multi-stage, as it is a matter of involvement in a special intelligence agency.

"The actual selection of personnel, individual interviews, verification of data, thorough medical examination, verification of the level of physical readiness, psychological tests and other stages of verification, which exclude all sorts of unforeseen situations, guarantee that the most worthy candidate has been chosen," Andriy Yusov told TSN.ua.

Whether a candidate without combat experience will be hired depends on the specifics of the work, says the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence.

"But even since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, people who had no previous combat experience have been involved, including in combat units. But after appropriate training and careful preparation, they proved themselves in the best possible way. The same applies to other areas. The lack of experience can be corrected in some way. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine provides such training and education. At the same time, of course, the presence of experience is a strong argument in order to consider a person for the appropriate position," Andriy Yusov told TSN.ua.

The representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine noted that the official website of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in the "Career" section has active links that will allow everyone to submit their application for service in military intelligence. To perform military service, you must fill out an application form and send a resume.

What is the difference between recruiting and mobilization?

It should be noted that the intelligence officer is not the only vacancy from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on job search sites. Recently, the Ministry of Defense launched a project to recruit for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Recruiters, such as Lobby X or Work.ua, work in the interests of the army for free. According to the ministry, the project should allow civilians to choose a unit and position where their experience will be most useful.

Recruiting is fundamentally different from mobilization. Mobilization is when you are summoned by summons from the Territorial Center for Social Support and Recruitment. Recruiting is when you go to serve in the Armed Forces on your own. In the second case, it is possible to choose where to serve and in what position.

What other vacancies are there

In addition to the Main Intelligence Directorate, Ukrainians are invited by the Defense Forces, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the Kharkiv Aviation Squadron of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the 228th Logistics Battalion, the 18th Maritime Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and many other units.

They are looking for people in the army from developers, communicators, video makers, drivers, and cooks to sappers, snipers, machine gunners, and grenade launchers. Current vacancies can be viewed on the Lobby X and Work.ua websites.

For example, the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are looking for a sapper. His responsibilities include engineering arrangement, mining and demining, work with explosive ordnance and combat missions with the unit. The candidate must be fit for service due to his health and moral character. Financial support ranges from 50,000 to 120,000 hryvnias, depending on the tasks.

It will be recalled that the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been practicing recruiting for a long time. In addition, it is the only brigade in Ukraine in which the concept of "pre-recruitment" exists. This is the so-called stormtrooper week. This was stated in an interview with TSN.ua by the commander of the assault platoon with the call sign "Small".

"You, a civilian, can come, you will be dressed, put on shoes, put to bed in the barracks, and you will spend a week according to the schedule, how the stormtrooper lives. With training and fire, physical training, appropriate conditions, food. Then you decide for yourself whether it's yours or not. No one will force you. This is a week-long test of an attack aircraft," the soldier says.

After that, civilians submit an application and are assigned to the brigade. Everyone has the opportunity to choose a specialty: UAV operator, artilleryman, driver, or attack aircraft. Or refuse to join the army.
