In April and July 2023, MP Vitaliy Bort from the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group (formerly OPFL) went to Hungary on three-day business trips with the approval of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. However, both times he stayed abroad for another month. The MP's case was taken up by employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, who are investigating the possible forgery of documents for traveling abroad by a people's deputy.

This was reported by the press service of the SBI.

It was established that the people's deputy, in accordance with the orders of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, traveled to Hungary twice: from April 12 to 14 and from July 3 to 5, 2023.

However, after the expiration of the business trip, he did not return to Ukraine on time, but continued to stay abroad. In particular, the deputy visited Hungary, Turkey, the USA, Austria, Germany, Italy, and France for private affairs.

At the end of October this year, the relevant criminal proceedings were initiated by the Prosecutor General. Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, on the basis of materials collected by the SBI.

As a reminder, on January 30, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers published a resolution defining the grounds for Ukrainian officials to travel abroad under martial law.
