In court, Ihor Bernyk pleaded not guilty to giving a bribe. He stated that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he asked the operative to help in crossing the border. Later, they met and the SBU officer announced the amount of 15 thousand rubles. Dollars. According to Bernik, he allegedly refused to give a bribe because he believed that he had legal grounds to cross the border.

Judge Oleg Yurkiv found Ihor Bernyk guilty of giving a bribe to an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, sentencing him four years in prison without confiscation of property. 15 thous. dollars that Bernyk gave as a bribe are confiscated to the state. The verdict can still be appealed.
