Mizoram Elections Result 2023: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the counting of votes of the Mizoram Assembly Elections today. The election is expected to witness a triangular contest between the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and the Congress. Counting of votes in Mizoram was to be held on Sunday along with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. However, following appeals by political parties, NGOs, churches and student bodies, the Election Commission postponed it as Sunday holds special significance for the people of Christian-majority Mizoram. Mizoram's Additional Chief Electoral Officer H Lianzela said the counting of votes will begin at 13 am at all 13 centres amid tight security. A counting hall for each of the 40 assembly seats has been set up at these 8 centres, he said. First of all, postal ballots will be counted and counting of votes cast in EVMs will start from 30.12 am. Three counting centres have been set up in Aizawl district, which has 10 assembly constituencies, while one each in 8 other districts, Lianzela said. He said that in some seats where the number of voters is less, only two rounds of counting will take place, but in most constituencies there will be five rounds of counting. Polling for the Mizoram Assembly was held on November 57 and over 80 per cent of the 18.174 lakh voters in the state had cast their votes. A total of 40 candidates, including 40 women, are in the fray. The MNF, ZPM and Congress contested 13 seats each, while the BJP fielded candidates in <> seats.
