The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the bombing carried out earlier today during a Catholic mass at a gymnasium of a university in the southern Philippines.

Authorities say at least four people were killed and at least 50 were injured.

"Soldiers of the caliphate have detonated an explosive device at a large gathering of Christians in the city of Marawi," the jihadist group said in a statement posted on its Telegram channels.
