Petro Kuzyk, commander of the Svoboda battalion of the 4th Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, answered an important question during the war in Ukraine about the reality of demobilization of experienced soldiers who have been at the front since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. According to him, people need to be replaced, but with trained, professional fighters who have learned to survive in real battles. And the process of demobilization should be balanced, reasonable and step-by-step.

This was stated in Kuzyk's comment to journalists on the air of the telethon on December 3.

Will the expected demobilization take place?

According to Kuzyk, first of all, combat service should be properly perceived, and not as a treaty in the civilized world, because Russia is waging a war to destroy the Ukrainian people, and does not act within the framework of civilizational agreements.

Therefore, according to the battalion commander, mobilization will not take place in the near future.

"I don't think so. It is possible to understand the family members of the fighters. Believe me, I myself have not seen either children or family since the first day. Very exhausted. I know the condition of the infantry unit. It's very hard work. However, war is not the standard terms of any contract or situation. War is not even force majeure. It is something that goes beyond human relationships. Russia is waging a war of annihilation. If we return ourselves to the limits of the civilized world, it does not work like that. As of today, we do not have those who could replace them. Because from the first days, there may have been mistakes in terms of training to replace personnel," the battalion commander explained.

He added that if the fighters who have been fighting for two years are now demobilized, and new inexperienced soldiers are put in their place, it will cause a greater tragedy.

"We need to take a comprehensive approach here. People definitely need to be replaced, but with trained, professional fighters who have learned to survive in real battles. These are valuable personnel, the most valuable gold. The demobilization process must be really reasonable and balanced," Kuzyk added.

At the same time, he said that without replenishment and the possibility of rest for those units that are now on the demarcation line, great difficulties and problems will also arise.

"People are exhausted, injured, so they need time to heal, recover, and simply rest. Therefore, mobilization is a matter of victory, among other things," he added.

How mobilization should be carried out in Ukraine

Those motivated fighters who wanted to protect Ukraine somehow found their way to their unit, Petro Kuzyk said. So now a new stage is coming. However, the mobilization process is hindered by the unprofessional actions of the employees of the military registration and enlistment offices, as well as careless statements by opinion leaders and politicians. All this, according to the fighter, led to the fact that instead of an honorable duty, which they would be proud of, which they would strive to Ukrainians, the issue of participation in hostilities turned into a "terrible story".

"Yes, it is not easy, dangerous and scary, but if you put the issue from a different angle, and we are talking about serious preparation, provision, support, then a mobilized person will see and understand that he is not going to die, but going to war, which means that he will have everything: from ammunition to cover all types of equipment. Then making a decision will become easier and most men will leave, because there is a war going on for the survival of the Ukrainian people," Petro Kuzyk added.

Recall that the problems with mobilization in Ukraine were also announced by the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Viktor Muzhenko. According to him, they arise due to non-compliance with the requirements of the Law "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization", which clearly defines the duties and functions of all public authorities.
