In the Zhytomyr military unit, boards with 28 kilograms of gold and 60 kilograms of silver worth 65 million hryvnias were found. The property was not registered with the military unit.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"The loss of microcircuits containing precious metals in a military unit in the Zhytomyr region was detected and prevented. During the inspection, blocks with unknown contents were found in two garages on the territory of the military unit," the statement reads.
After inspection, it turned out that, according to the passport data, there are approximately 50 tons of unaccounted boards containing precious metals in the blocks:
The department noted that for some reason these boards were not registered with the military unit.
It is reported that the circumstances of how the precious property disappeared from the register and why it was kept unaccounted for are being established.
"The found precious payments (property) were re-registered. The estimated cost is UAH 65.66 million. Materials of internal audit to law enforcement agencies to provide a legal assessment of the actions of the unit commander and bring him to justice," the Ministry of Defense said.
