The air force said on the Telegram messaging app that Iranian-made Shahid drones were aimed at the Kmelnytskyi region, while the missiles were aimed at southern parts of Ukraine.

There is an air base in the Kmelnytskyi region of western Ukraine.

The air force said that although the third missile had not been destroyed, it had "not reached" its target, but gave no further details.

Russia's Defence Ministry said earlier on Wednesday that a frigate from its Black Sea fleet had launched a four-missile cruise attack on Ukraine's military infrastructure, but it was unclear when the attack took place.

Russia's Defense Ministry sometimes releases information after it has been postponed for a while.

The Ukrainian navy said three Russian cruise missiles were fired from the Kherson Black Sea region, parts of which Russia has controlled since early in the war Moscow began 3 months ago.
