MP Serhiy Labaziuk was released from custody on November 28, the same day the court decided to send him to a pre-trial detention center. A UAH 40.2 million bail was paid for him.

This was reported by the media with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.

The peopleʼs deputy was released from custody under his duties. Thus, he stayed in the pre-trial detention center for less than a day.

Serhiy Labaziuk said that during the court hearing, more questions arose than answers to the NABU detectives and the prosecutor. The MP also urged the public not to draw hasty conclusions and not to hang clichés "anti-corruption fighter" or "corrupt official".

The case of Sergiy Labaziuk

On November 28, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) chose a measure of restraint for the People's Deputy of the "For the Future" group Serhiy Labaziuk from Khmelnytskyi region – two months of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 40 million hryvnias.

On November 21, NABU and SAPO served a notice of suspicion to the MP. According to the investigation, Labaziuk and his accomplices tried to bribe Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, as well as Mustafa Nayyem, head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development.

Now the deputy and his accomplice are suspected under Part 4 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison with or without confiscation of property.
