(CNN Español) -- Four journalists were attacked with firearms in Chilpancingo, capital of the Mexican state of Guerrero, the state's Attorney General's Office and the Coordination Table for the Construction of Peace reported on Tuesday. Three of them were wounded, they added.
The three injured journalists are receiving medical attention, the Bureau said in a statement. He added that one of them "is reported with a minor injury," although he did not detail the state of health of the other two.

For its part, the Prosecutor's Office said in another statement that it opened an investigation for the crime of attempted homicide, and that the Army, the National Guard and the state and municipal police are carrying out an operation to arrest the attackers.
According to the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders, the attack occurred in front of the Chilpancingo Military Zone, when the journalists were returning from a report.
Due to the high number of murders of journalists and attacks against the press in Mexico, civil organizations warn that the country is one of the most dangerous in the world to practice journalism.
From 2000 to date, 163 journalists have been killed in Mexico, according to a tally by the nongovernmental organization Article 19.
