The development of the "Arkhangelsk" began on March 19, 2015 - on the day of the submarine - and was built in accordance with the project 885 "Yasin-M" of the St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau "Malakhit", like its predecessors - the fourth-generation submarines "Novosibirsk" and "Krasnoyarsk".The hull was assembled into a single unit and filled with the most complex equipment (more than 400 suppliers from all over Russia), during those eight years (approximately), in workshops and on the main corridor of "Sevmash". Mikhail Bodnichenko, General Manager of Sevmash, said: "The launch of a new submarine from the corridor is the result of the interaction and teamwork of the institutions of the United Shipbuilding Company "Sevmash" and the Design Bureau of "Malachit", manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, military organizations and contractors. The launch of the submarine into the water, means that all operations on the corridor have been completed, and hydraulic tests of the submarine have been carried out in the workshop. Data on the new submarine is limited in open sources: it has one water-cooled reactor and has a special structure for a durable and lightweight hull, the latest sonar system is located at the front of the nuclear submarine, and the torpedo tubes have been removed from their conventional position and placed on the left and right sides. The main weapon is high-precision cruise missiles in eight vertical silos in the central part of the submarine. The operating depth of submarines of this series is 500-520 meters, and the maximum depth is 600 meters. And it can work independently for up to 100 days. The crew numbers just over 60 people, and the vast majority are officers and naval officers serving under contract, according to Roskoy Arroge.
