President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky won the title of "Marathon Runner" in the category "Dreamers", becoming the most influential figure in Europe.

This is evidenced by the Politico media rating.

"Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela. From time to time, a leader appears and single-handedly changes the course of history, not because of the power of his army or economy, but because of the power of his words. Such a leader is the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky," the presentation of the rating reads.

Politico notes that Zelensky inspired Ukrainians to fight, and Western partners to provide effective financial and military assistance.

However, 2024 will not be an easy year for the President of Ukraine, writes Politico. The country's citizens are exhausted, the world is distracted by the Middle East, and EU politicians are beginning to fear the possible consequences of the war.

Overall, Politico determined the winners in the categories "Doers," "Disruptors," and "Dreamers." Each of them included nine people.

The rating of "Figures" was headed by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. She won first place for her unpredictability as a right-wing politician. She was impressed by her policy towards the Russian Federation and support for Ukraine.

The rating of "Perturbators" was headed by the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, for her role in the work of the Russian military machine.

The most influential person in Europe in 2023, according to Politico, was Polish politician Donald Tusk — his opposition party defeated the ruling party in the elections in Poland, which shows strength "even in the flawed populist system."

Recall that last year this title was held by the President of Ukraine Zelensky.
