A grace period is being considered for the ban on the entry into the center of Sofia of the most polluting cars. Vasil Terziev was born on June 9, 1978. He is the candidate for mayor of Sofia, nominated by the parties. In his opinion, this is the fairest thing to be done. Earlier, Terziev welcomed the participants in the 13th edition of the "For Women in Science" awards, BTA reported.
From December 1, 2023, a ban on the entry into the center of Sofia of the most polluting cars comes into force, which will apply from December to the end of February, the Sofia Municipal Council (SCC) decided at the end of last year with the adoption of the report on changes in the Ordinance on the Establishment of Low Emission Zones of Harmful Substances in the Ambient Air on the territory of Sofia Municipality. Submitted by municipal councilors from the group of GERBGERB is a center-right populist, conservative and pro-European political party in - UDFThe Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) is a Bulgarian right-wing political party, successor to the Sofia Municipal Council.
Within days, every fifth car in Sofia will not be able to enter the center
According to Terziev, this is quite unsettled and there has not been a sufficiently good awareness campaign. There are challenges that the software in charge of analyzing the license plates of the infringing cars has not passed procedures and is being appealed. There are a lot of things that need to be cleared, but my team and I are working to remove them as quickly as possible, the mayor explained. He pointed out that the ban could not be postponed because a working City Council is needed. It is not clear how the sanctions will be imposed, but they cannot be simplified, we are looking for options for this to happen, Terziev said, adding that there will soon be a statement on the subject. About 20,000 cars a day will be affected.
Work continues on clearing snow and fallen branches and trees. There are too many defeats, Terziev said. Companies in some places did not cope, and in some places people have not helped each other by cleaning up in front of their entrances. We're going to get all the countries together and see who hasn't done their job where. Next time we will be more prepared. I understand the dissatisfaction and I am empathetic. All services are engaged, we work around the clock, the mayor commented.
