Russian gold shipments to Hong Kong from January to October this year set an 11-year record, reaching HK$41.42 billion (about $5.31 billion). According to the Hong Kong government's Department of Census and Statistics, shipments grew 7.3 times year-on-year (+625.8 percent).

The most recent figures show that in October alone, shipments increased 6.3 times (+527.1 per cent), reaching HK$7.7 billion (about US$987.6 million). This is a record monthly indicator of at least 11 years. Thus, deliveries in October this year exceeded exports of Russian gold for the whole of 2022.

Gold rose in anticipation of US inflation data

Throughout 2022, the former British colony imported HK$7.54 billion ($966.2 million) of gold from Russia.
