An Account of the Life of Rosalynn Carter, Former First Lady of the U.S. 4:01

(CNN) -- Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to attend the memorial service for his late wife, Rosalynn Carter, on Tuesday, his grandson told CNN.

Jason Carter, the grandson, told CNN that his grandfather plans to travel to Atlanta to attend the former first lady's memorial service.

A memorial service for Rosalynn Carter is scheduled to be held Tuesday at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Emory University. U.S. President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and he and his husband Doug Emhoff are expected to attend.

Other expected guests include former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as former first ladies Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump. It is common for the first lady and former first ladies to attend the funerals of former first ladies.

Melania Trump's presence marks a rare public appearance for the former first lady, who has largely avoided public attention since leaving Washington in January 2021, even as her husband conducts a campaign to return to the White House. Former President Donald Trump is not expected to attend.
