Ukrainian air defense has already shot down 15 Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, which the Russians considered not to be shot down

This was announced by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, in an interview with Novynarnya.

"Now we already have 15 downed Kinzhals. Plus dozens of downed ballistic missiles that flew at the Kyiv. The Patriot has shown itself," Ihnat said.

According to him, this happened for the first time on May 4, 2023.

"It was a sensation, in fact, to the whole world. Therefore, it was necessary to do it very carefully. I found out very quickly... But can this joy be shared with the whole world? We had a small conference call of the management team, and I also took part in it. It was decided to postpone the publication of this information for a while. They released the Kinzhal and let them think about where it went (laughs). We needed time to observe the enemy's reaction, make certain maneuvers, and so on. At that time, we published this information in full communication with the approval of the Commander of the Air Force Oleshchuk and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhnyi," Ihnat recalled.

According to him, the Air Force maintained information silence for a day. But unfortunately, some media outlets disseminated this information earlier – although they were also asked to pause.

"This is still done for a reason. Information is also a weapon that must be skillfully used. And sometimes time is also a weapon. Unfortunately, many of us do not understand this," the Air Force spokesman explained.

Earlier, Yuriy Ignat confirmed that in May 2023, the Patriot shot down five Russian planes over the Bryansk region.
